The Tree

The Timber
The wood is bright lemon yellow when freshly cut, turning a rich golden yellow on exposure, with a medium, uniform texture and a grain that is generally straight, although can be slightly interlocked. It is a handsome wood with a slight, superficial lustre.

Drying
The timber requires some care to dry and there is a risk of surface checking.

Strength
A strong timber with strength property values midway between beech and greenheart.

Working Qualities
Easy - Care required when planing if interlocked grain is present. Sawdust can cause irritation.
