Roof battens, or tiling battens, are a key element of slated and tiled roofs. They provide a secure fixing point for tiles or slates, and must be able to carry that weight as well as the forces caused by wind and snow. They may also provide a foothold for the workers installing the roof covering.
Timber roof battens are fundamental to the structure of slated and tiled roofs, and the safety of the roofer during installation. They are the long timbers of small cross-section that span across rafters and provide the fixing point for roofing materials.
