Summary

Forests are essential to support life on Earth and to provide essential resources to both wildlife and humans. Responsible management – balancing economic, social, and environmental objectives – can achieve forest sustainability.

Forest sustainability preserves and enhances the diversity of plant and animal species, as well as the capacity of the forest ecosystem to provide essential ecological, social, and economic benefits for present and future generations, both locally and globally, without compromising the health and productivity of other ecosystems.
