Building contractor ISG has filed court applications for its UK companies. ISG’s UK operations have ceased to trade with immediate effect.
As its website baldly states: “No further work will be undertaken on existing UK contracts, including for Construction, Fit Out and Engineering services.”
The collapse is the largest to hit the UK construction industry since Carillion’s liquidation in 2018. It means the loss of over 2000 jobs and an uncertain future for many construction projects up and down the UK.
The ISG companies that are in administration are:
- ISG Construction Limited
- ISG Central Services Limited
- ISG Interior Services Group UK Limited
- ISG Fit Out Limited
- ISG Engineering Services Limited
- ISG UK Retail Limited
- ISG Retail Limited
- ISG Jackson Limited
The administrators have been confirmed
EY Group were appointed as administrators on 20 September. They state that they are contacting all known customers and creditors of the ISG companies in writing. They have provided two sets of FAQs for those affected:
“Sites were closed down prior to the appointment of Administrators,” states the Customer FAQs, urging customers to “take all necessary steps to arrange security and insurance at relevant premises”.
The Supplier and Contractor FAQs contains, among other information, advice on what a contractor should do if they have equipment on a now-closed ISG site; and information for creditors.
