A partnership between UK-based TDUK member Postsaver and global sawmilling and wood processing manufacturer Wood-Mizer is combining Postsaver’s rot prevention products with Wood-Mizer’s engineering expertise to create the PostMizer machine – a custom-built application system designed to protect timber posts against rot and boost growth of wood sales.
This partnership aims to tackle a key challenge in the timber industry: strengthening wood’s market position and driving growth amid increasing competition from alternative materials by enabling timber producers to offer guaranteed long-life posts. Postsaver’s Pro-Sleeve and Pro-Sleeve +PLUS rot protectors have a guaranteed lifespan of 20 and 40-years respectively, the company says, giving merchants, agricultural markets, local authorities, fencing specifiers and homeowners a long-life and sustainable fencing solution.
The PostMizer machine, developed in collaboration with Wood-Mizer, is a high-spec, high-quality application system designed to fit up to 360 rot protection sleeves per hour, making it ideal for large-scale production.
For sawmills and timber merchants, the PostMizer offers a cost-effective solution to produce guaranteed long-life timber posts, reducing the need for expensive alternative treatments. Timber and lumber yards can now efficiently scale up production, saving both time and money while delivering a premium product to their customers. They can use the PostMizer to apply both Pro-Sleeve and Pro-Sleeve +PLUS rot protectors at scale to UC4-treated posts, creating a finished product that offers decay protection as well as a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to creosote or CCA treatments.
Potential customers will gain access to Wood-Mizer’s customer support, ensuring a seamless integration of the PostMizer machine into their operations. Payment plans are also available, making it easier for sawmills and timber merchants to invest in this technology without straining their budgets.
