WJ Timber Treatments has supplied DeckWright anti-slip decking boards to Garton-on-the-Wolds Primary School, located near Driffield in Yorkshire.
The project required the installation of approximately 300 linear metres of anti-slip deck boards to improve access around a portable classroom, including a ramp and adjoining play area. WJ Timber Treatments, which is also a member of the Timber Decking & Cladding Association (TDCA), recommended standard 32mm x 125mm deck boards, with a two-groove anti-slip profile, thanks to their excellent slip resistance. The boards achieve a Pendulum Test Value (PTV) of 71 – well above recommended safety levels. This ensures the school now has safe access for their teachers, pupils and other stakeholders.
Positioned beneath several large trees, the ramp and decking access area is particularly vulnerable to moss and algae formation. The anti-slip decking chosen is specifically designed for such environments, making it a highly effective solution to ensure year-round safety.
The boards, manufactured by DeckWright, are also supported by a 15-year warranty covering the embedded anti-slip grit and resin system, offering long-term reliability for the school’s outdoor spaces.
As part of its TDCA membership, WJ also has DeckMark and DeckMark Plus Accreditation.
DeckMark, operated by TDCA, is an independent third-party quality scheme covering products, suppliers, and installers. The DeckMark product accreditation provides assurance that the materials supplied and/or installed as part of a timber deck or associated outdoor structure are quality and fit for purpose. To ensure standards of performance are maintained, the accreditation of an individual firm is audited and renewed every 12 months by an independent inspector appointed by the TDCA.
