Are you interested in timber construction, technology and manufacturing?

Highlights from Timber TED1

Make sure you sign up for Timber Technology Engineering Design 2 (TED 2) before applications close on 26 May 2023.

The UK needs to increase the use of timber in construction to achieve its Net Zero targets. If we want to make this happen, we need a workforce able to make best use of this renewable resource.

This is why Timber Development UK is proud to support Timber Technology Engineering Design 2 (Timber TED2), a new course delivered by NMITE in partnership with ourselves and Edinburgh Napier University.

TED2 takes a revolutionary new approach which uses blended learning to give participants the right combination of online lessons and practical applications to take your skills and knowledge to the next level.

Combined with NMITE’s unique learn-by-doing ethos and work-based challenges,TED2 aims to affect a transformative change that extends beyond your course to boost your learning.

COURSE OVERVIEW

What you’ll learn

Taught in three modules, this course looks at design, timber construction and timber technology, and manufacturing, as well as introducing and demonstrating the professional use of software to design, develop and communicate timber design.

By the end of this course, learners will have knowledge of timber construction approaches and the technologies available to execute a built environment which uses sustainable and digitally driven design practices.

Course duration

The course lasts 12 weeks, nine of which will be delivered online (three and a half hours per week) and the remaining three are challenge weeks which will be split between our campus in Hereford and the workplace (60/40), delivered at the start, middle and end of the course.

If you are interested in being a part of the next Timber TED cohort, sign up now. This course starts on 5 June 2023 and is run as a 12 week programme over a duration of 15 weeks.

Who is the course for?

Just like TED 1, this course will allow you to advance in your career in the built environment industry while continuing to work full time in the job you already have.

If you are already in one of the following careers, or similar, and are looking to keep up with the demands of the future, this course is for you:

Building performance technologist | Cost consultant | Structural engineer | Architecture | Architectural technology | Architectural engineering | Building information model and digital technologists | Technical sales and specification | Specialist timber contractors and erectors | Construction project management | Manufacturing and operational management
