TDUK Regional Association Award 2023

The TDUK Regional Association of the Year Award recognises a Regional Association which has gone above and beyond to support and engage with members in their region.

The East Anglia Timber Trade Association (EATTA) is a driving force in TDUK for both education and membership engagement. These efforts go back many years, as shown in their ‘Who Teaches the Teachers’ programme. Through the support of EATTA, this ground-breaking programme takes University and College lecturers from the region on a supply chain tour from forest to factory.

By sending architectural, engineering and carpentry lecturers to visit forests and sawmills in person, to find out exactly where construction timber is coming from, how trees are felled, sustainability practices, and the modern technology involved in production, EATTA is helping ensure that the next generation of students come out of their educational environments understanding timber products and systems. This work makes EATTA with support from their members supply chain – SCA, Vida and InnTre Kjeldstad are all early innovators when it comes to fulfilling Timber Development UK’s key missions; connecting the supply chain, leading best practice, and accelerating a low-carbon future.

EATTA represents a highly active and engaged section of their membership – thanks to the work of the committee and the long standing Secretary, Sheila Hutchings, in setting forth a busy schedule of events. In addition to educational opportunities and workshops, the association has three meetings during the year which have included IWM Duxford with BBQ, Newmarket Rowley Mile Racecourse and are always striving to find different venues for their meetings which are all included in their annual subscription. The Annual Dinner in September at King’s College, Cambridge is always sold-out by Easter and fundraises for a local charity. All of which can be seen on the EATTA website.

For these reasons, EATTA has been awarded the TDUK Regional Association of the Year Award 2023.
