designTimber – Black & White Building

Join us for the third session in our new series of designTimber 2024 webinars, where we learn from the multidisciplinary team behind the Black & White Building.

Date: Wednesday 10 April 2024

Time: 13.00 – 14.00 pm

Location: Online

The designTimber series continues with the Black & White Building, winner of both the Commercial and Sustainability Awards in last year’s Wood Awards.

This mass timber office complex designed by Waugh Thistleton Architects has pushed the boundaries of sustainable workplace design. With a superstructure of beech LVL and CLT, the seven-storey building provides generous, flexible workspaces with significantly minimized embodied carbon.

Architect Dave Lomax from Waugh Thistleton Architects and structural engineer Toby Reynolds from Eckersley O’Callaghan will be joined by Sophie Werren, formerly lead architect for client The Office Group/FORA, to offer insight into the development of this pioneering project.

Confirmed speakers:

Dave Lomax – project architect, Waugh Thistleton Architects

Toby Reynolds – structural engineer, Eckersley O’Callaghan

Sophie Werren – lead architect for client (project completed with The Office Group)
