designTimber – Durley Chine Environmental Hub

Join us for the second in our new series of designTimber 2024 webinars, where we learn from the multidisciplinary team behind the Durley Chine Environmental Hub.

Date: Wednesday 13 March 2024

Time: 13.00 – 14.00 pm

Location: Online

The designTimber series continues with the Durley Chine Environmental Hub, a cutting-edge eco hub on Bournemouth’s coast.

Providing visitors with an education building, café kiosk and public toilets, all united by a striking canopy roof, the Passivhaus-accredited visitor hub is a powerful showcase of sustainable design using repurposed timber – with 45 tonnes of reclaimed hardwood groynes used in various forms throughout the building.

Architect Mike Ford from Footprint Architects and structural engineer Monika Nikolaeva from WSP will be joined by Matthew Squibb, Pete Best and Neil Butler from main contractor Seascape South and Zoe James from BCP Council to present this groundbreaking reuse project.

Confirmed speakers:

Mike Ford – project architect, Footprint Architects

Monika Nikolaeva – structural engineer, WSP

Matthew Squibb, Pete Best & Neil Butler – main contractor, Seascape South

Zoe James – project manager, BCP Council
