designTimber – The Boathouse
In the sixth session in our 2024 series of designTimber webinars we learnt from the multidisciplinary team behind The Boathouse.
About this event:
Entirely built from English-grown larch, this meticulously crafted boathouse was the Small Project winner in the 2023 Wood Awards.
Learning from traditional Japanese carpentry techniques, the structure uses no mechanical fixings. The frame was built offsite in a carpentry workshop as a kit of parts that were able to be self-assembled by the client and friends.
This inspiring timber project is presented by architect Jeremy Ashworth from Ashworth Parkes Architects, specialist timber framer Luke Copley-Wilkins from Carpenter Oak, and contractor Laurie Prentis from Enerphase Construction.
Speakers:
Jeremy Ashworth – project architect, Ashworth Parkes Architects
