NMITE, Skylon Campus

Open Day: Centre for Advanced Timber Technology

NMITE’s Centre for Advanced Timber Technology (CATT) launched in September 2022 with Timber Technology Engineering and Design (Timber TED) short courses aimed at upskilling construction professionals. These courses form part of NMITE’s expanding educational portfolio on Sustainable Built Environment, which have been developed in response to local industry needs and the broader skills crisis within the construction sector.

As well as showcasing modern methods of timber construction, this new, state of the art facility hosts the Department for Education’s “GenZero” prototype classroom, and a range of Association of Environment Conscious Building (AECB) exhibits which demonstrate how to upgrade and retrofit existing buildings for improved energy efficiency.

On Saturday 5th November, NMITE will be opening the doors of the CATT to the public.

Come along to learn about:

  • The timber industry and the career opportunities that exist within it;
  • The NMITE Skylon facility, what it is made of and current exhibitions;
  • NMITE CATT and the expanding educational offering including Timber TED short courses;
  • A range of industry partner organisations and the timber construction career opportunities that exist in the region.
