TDUK/ British Retail Consortium Timber Working Group

Timber Development UK and the British Retail Consortium (BRC) are holding a joint timber working-group meeting with their respective committee members

The working group is formed by members of both associations and aims to facilitate information sharing and knowledge exchange on key environment, sustainability and trade issues associated with forest-risk commodities.

This first meeting will serve as a ‘discovery meeting’ to get to know each other and to look at upcoming deforestation legislation, existing timber regulations and a horizon scan for 2023. Invited speakers include DEFRA who will be providing an update on the UK Deforestation Legislation (UK Environment Act) and how the learnings from the UKTR/EUTR feed into the future of this legislation. Sustainability consultancy, 3keel and IBM will also be joining the event to provide an overview on their respective services helping companies achieving sustainable sourcing and reporting.
