Shining a light on timber’s benefits

In this issue of Supplying Timber we’re bringing you some of the latest new products that TDUK members are bringing to market, as well as our usual round-up of industry news and TDUK updates.

After a challenging year for the timber sector, all signs point to 2024 and the years that follow bringing an improved market for anyone involved in the timber supply chain.

The latest timber import figures suggest that both volume and price stability is returning to the market (p20), while forecasts revealed at TDUK’s Global Market Conference expect the overall market to be flat in 2024, with a stronger recovery ahead for commercial and industrial projects in particular (p22).

Despite the ongoing uncertainty, there is still plenty to be optimistic about for the world of timber. In this issue we have Member Profiles with two companies who are forging ahead with their timber projects. Timber frame manufacturer Vision Development tells us why their whole business is built on the benefits of timber frame construction (p62), while English Woodlands Timber is embracing the internet as its very own shop window (p28).

Plus, we’re taking an in-depth look at Beech-Faced Eucalyptus Plywood, which DHH Panel Products believes can act as a replacement for Birch Plywood.

And, in the latest of Timber Development UK’s work to bring new resources to our members, we’re introducing the brand-new Timber Knowledge Library, which answers many common questions about every aspect of working with wood.
