Sylva™ Beams and Columns are an advanced wood product developed for the demands of today’s construction industry. Stronger than conventional timber with a higher strength-to-weight ratio than steel, Sylva™ Beams and Columns offer unlimited flexibility in design opportunities while reducing the project’s overall carbon footprint.

Sylva™ LVL Beams & Columns

Laminated veneer lumber (LVL) is a mass timber product that is twice as strong as steel in proportion to weight. It provides an ideal solution when strength, dimensional stability, and high load-bearing capacity are essential.

LVL beams and columns are available in max size of panels 24,000 mm x 2,400 mm x 75 mm that are format cut and CNC-processed to the desired dimensions. For thicknesses greater than 75 mm, Stora Enso offers LVL G beams and columns made by regluing the LVL panels together flatwise.

The ability of Sylva™ LVL columns to take high vertical loads and the rigid and robust performance of Sylva™ LVL beams make them ideal for use in primary and secondary applications, particularly in industrial and storage buildings.

For primary and secondary beam and column applications, LVL S and LVL GS are recommended. Where openings are required in beams or where more lateral stiffness is required to prevent buckling, LVL X and LVL GX are recommended.

Sylva™ GLT Beams & Columns

Glued-laminated timber (GLT/Glulam) is often used in long-span designs, where it can replace steel and concrete in beams, columns, and other load-bearing structures.
