Bridport House

About the project

The project comprised of a single-storey extension together with extensive internal reconfiguration, including the addition of a dedicated wine room and comprehensive future-proofing measures throughout the residence. All existing fenestration was replaced with high-performance aluminium frames and a new timber cladding facade was installed to unify the extension and existing building

Situated in close proximity to the sea, the façade specification required materials and coatings capable of resisting salt-laden air, driving wind and the increased risk of moisture ingress typical of coastal exposures.

The selection and finalisation of the cladding system followed a tightly collaborative sampling and review process between James E. Hatch & Son and Studio Elephant. Multiple coating options and material samples were trialled to verify colour match, sheen and texture.

The technical specification of Thermo Ayous with structured face, factory Teknos 1410 preservative and Teknoclad Silver Stone Grey finish achieves a considered combination of aesthetics and durability appropriate to a coastal, high-exposure application.
