TDUK has issued a new Trade Note outlining the Customs Declaration Service Waiver Codes that will apply on import declarations for wood products from 31 January, 2024.

Waiver codes are an important mechanism within customs declarations as they are used to identify goods which are subject to regulation but have evidence to show they fulfill a specific exemption within that regulation. This allows the goods to enter efficiently through customs controls without being delayed unnecessarily for further investigation.

Wood and wood products may require a wavier code for a number of important reasons and in the past a generic document code 999L has been used to cover many different circumstances. Members need to be aware that from 31 January 2024 traders will no longer be able to use the generic document code 999L for Customs Declaration Service (CDS) import declarations.
