For timber and timber products placed on the market in Northern Ireland, the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR – Regulation (EU) 2023/1115) applies in Northern Ireland under the Windsor Framework and will replace the previous EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) requirements.

Before placing/moving timber products onto, or exporting from the Northern Ireland market, businesses must ensure the products are:

1. Deforestation-free
2. Legally produced
3. Covered by Due Diligence

Due diligence requirements

Operators (1^st placers on the market) must collect and retain evidence including:

• Species and product description.
• Country of harvest.
• Supplier and customer information.
• Geolocation coordinates (or polygons where required) showing precisely where the timber was harvested.
• Evidence demonstrating no deforestation or forest degradation after 31 December 2020.
• Evidence of legal harvesting and production.
