Net Zero Roadmap
Summary

The Net-Zero Roadmap project wants to establish a clear route to net-zero carbon by 2050 for the industry. The roadmap highlights the key areas where the timber industry can make a difference, including:

  • How we can improve the efficiency of production and distribution of materials.
  • Moving over to electric powered vehicles for the transportation of products, and hydrogen for harvesting.
  • Moving over to biomass CHP, and other renewable forms of energy, at production facilities.
  • Working with our overseas supply chain to implement similar measures to reduce imported embodied emissions.

Case studies

The new house is situated in a small village near to Cowes on the Isle of Wight, on a small cul-de-sac overlooking the Solent.

The new store at Cheshire Oaks, the third ‘sustainable learning store’ to be built, is also the second largest M&S store in the country and is the company’s flagship for sustainability, carbon efficiency, biodiversity and material innovation, with the use of
timber, both for construction and for fuel, as a central concept of the design.
