Despite the challenging end to 2023, timber import volumes for the year were actually higher in three of the six product groups, with softwood imports in 2023 just outperforming the volumes seen in 2022.

This month’s statistics also provide a longer-term view of product performance to demonstrate that despite a difficult year in 2023, the growth path for nearly all timber and panel products remains positive.

Moving into 2024, the outlook is cautiously optimistic with indications of modest growth to come as the UK economy performs a little better than it did last year.
