UK imports of the main timber and panel products totalled 9.1 million m3 in 2025, which was just over 2% lower than in 2024.
Volumes in Q4 2025 were 4% lower than in Q4 2024, but better than in the fourth quarter of 2022 and 2023.
Demand for timber products in general has been weak over the last four years with 2025 volumes at their lowest for ten years.
However, the year 2025 is likely to be seen as the year when volumes ’bottomed out’ as modest improvement in the UK economy and with the important housing and construction industries signalling a return to growth in 2026.
