Summary

Timber Development UK uses the latest timber import data, published by HM Revenue & Customs, to collate and release monthly updates on timber imports to the UK, to help TDUK members better understand the market and make informed decisions for their businesses.

This is a follow up to the trade note issued on 8 May 2024 which highlighted a significant problem with customs declarations being made against the Coniferous Plywood quota (non-preferential tariff quota ref 050013).

Key Information

Following the previous trade note TDUK lodged complaints with both HMRC and OPSS asking they urgently investigate as the figures related to the quota simply did not make sense. This trade note explores the HMRC response and outlines TDUK’s plans to take the issue further and call for the termination of the Coniferous Plywood quota.
