Summary

Visual grading is a tool for timber grading: sorting timber into grades and assigning values for mechanical properties and density.

Visual grading standards might be used for in-situ assessments or for grading timber from unusual sources, like minor species or post-consumer wood. However, there are limitations to using visual grading standards for such purposes.
