Summary

C16 and C24 are the two main strength classes of structural softwood timber available in the UK. Many merchants stock and recommend C24 by default, but in fact homegrown C16 timber is perfectly suitable for use in many general construction applications. This month, we explore the differences between the two timber strength classes and encourage merchants to back British-grown timber by stocking and recommending homegrown C16 timber whenever suitable.
