Trussed rafters (or roof trusses) are engineered, prefabricated structural components manufactured using a combination of structural strength‐graded timber members, connected with punched-metal plate connectors.
Trussed rafters provide a structural framework to support the roof structure, ceilings and, in the case of attic trusses, to form floors. This framework withstands external forces and carries and transfers the weight of the roof structure (and any loads applied to the roof like snow or wind) to a building’s load-bearing walls.
