Summary
In specific circumstances and using proven techniques, it is possible to upgrade existing timber doors to meet current standards – for up to 30 minutes’ fire resistance.
While it is preferable to install new third-party certificated fire resisting doors, which incorporate all the latest technologies, there are circumstances where it is desirable to use existing doors but with increased fire resistance, such as in heritage buildings.
