Summary
Government House Building Target and Planning System Changes (July 2024):
The government announced that its housing target will be increased from 300,000 to 370,000 net additional homes per year and that it will be made mandatory.
It also proposed substantial changes to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), now out to consultation, and broader changes to the planning system in England.
