We will be publishing the Timber Frame Guide: the go-to-source for all architects, engineers, and designers seeking to build with timber in the UK.

If the construction sector is to achieve its net-zero goals, we need to be designing and building with timber. Our new timber frame design guide will reflect the most up-to-date design advice, standards, and legislation.

This design guide will cover all facets of timber construction, including methods of construction and design requirements, which extend all the way from the foundations to the roof for a timber building – covering a wide range of timber products and systems.

Key topics covered by this guide include thermal performance, fire performance, sound insulation, durability, dimensional discipline, and more. All areas of advice in the design guide will be mapped against the latest legislation, including the Future Homes Standard and the Building Safety Act.

The guide is being written by independent experts from Built Environment – Smarter Transformation (BE-ST), with oversight from leaders in the construction sector to ensure the guide is robust and kept up-to-date at all times.

This guide is expected to become available to all members in Q3 2023. Please contact us for more information.
