On 10 September 2025, Timber Development UK welcomed members to the St Giles London Hotel for a Learning Day focused on current regulatory challenges facing the timber supply chain. Presentations and workshops covered the UK Timber Regulations (UKTR), the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), and the Construction Products Regulation (CPR)....
Flame Retardant (FR) chemical treatments for timber work by reducing its ignitability, slowing down the surface spread of flame and, as a result, reducing the heat released. This allows more time for escape in a fire situation.
CE marking of construction products (those and only those covered by a harmonised European standard) is mandatory under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). Harmonised standards include guidance on the minimum information that should be included with the CE mark.
Those who manufacture construction products for which a Harmonised European standard exists have an obligation to draw up a Declaration of Performance (DoP) and apply a CE mark when the product is first placed on the market. The key CPR definitions are explained in Guidance Note WPA FR 4.
