Highlights

Merry Christmas! It’s been a packed year for Timber Development UK. We’ve been busy promoting timber in construction across the board, working hard to support our members and their businesses.

Here’s a selection of highlights from a very productive 2023…

Launch of our Timber Knowledge Sheets

Discover how the timber sector can dramatically reduce its carbon impact.

We launched the first part of our Knowledge Library this year: over 50 Timber Knowledge Sheets. Whether you work in the Build, Supply or Design sector, you’ll find a wealth of information on a host of essential topics. A further 90 sheets will be published in 2024.

The Timber Industry Net-Zero Roadmap

Launched at the start of 2023, the in-depth Timber Industry Net-Zero Roadmap explains how the timber industry can reduce its carbon emissions. It’s now available in a cut-down summary version.

Timber Typologies

Timber Typologies is a primer – a ‘beginner’s guide’ – explaining the main different timber building solutions and methods. It’s proven to be incredibly popular: read it and you’ll soon see why it was our most-downloaded resource this year.

The inaugural TDUK Awards

With categories including Regional Association Member and Training & Apprenticeship, the TDUK Awards were launched at this year’s extremely successful Annual Dinner – our biggest and best yet.

Our fantastic members’ magazines: Designing Timber and Supplying Timber

TDUK members were treated to jam-packed issues of our quarterly magazines across the year. If you haven’t already read them, check out current and back issues of both Supplying Timber and Designing Timber online.

A packed year of great regional events

Our annual dinner 2023 was TDUK’s biggest yet.

Our regional associations – the EATTA, NETTA, NWTTA, SRTTA, WTTA, and the STTA – act as a grassroots bridge between TDUK and its members. They delivered a packed year of successful meetings, dinners and events.

Informative webinars on the TDUK YouTube channel

The DesignTimber and EngineerTimber webinar series were a huge success. You can boost your timber understanding about Designing Timber Connections, for example, or learn all about the design of Tonkin Liu‘s Water Tower building.

Learn about amazing timber buildings in our Case Studies

Durley Chine Environmental Hub: one of many case studies within our Resources pages

We hugely expanded our Case Study library this year, showcasing fantastic timber buildings large and small across all sectors. Check out buildings such as the RIBA award-winning Green House or the Durley Chine Environmental Hub.

The Government issues a strong commitment to timber building
