The TreeCurupay attains a height of 20m to 30m on average with a diameter of 2-3 foot. Boles are straight and clear.
The TimberDark reddish brown heartwood, with darker streaks running through the timber, the sapwood is a yellow-brown to light pink colour. Texture is fine to medium with an interlocked grain.
DryingDries slowly with little warp, but some surface checking and splitting.
StrengthA very dense hard timber with strength properties Comparable to greenheart or ekki.
Working QualitiesDifficult - Very difficult to work with hand tools, but can be worked by machines with less trouble. Must be pre-bored for nailing.
