The Tree
The tree reaches about 40 m hight and 80 cm in diameter (DBH) and has a straight trunk.

The Timber
The heartwood is bright yellow becoming yellowish-brown on exposure, clearly demarcated from the white sapwood. It has a medium to coarse texture, slightly lustrous and a straight, but sometimes variable grain. It weighs between 496 and 640 kg/m3 when dried.

Drying
Dries at a moderate speed, with a slight risk of warping or checking.

Strength
Slightly weaker than oak.

Working Qualities
Good - Straight grained material is said to work easily, but cutters tend to dull quickly. It is tough and strong, and finishes smoothly.
