2025 New London Award — Education
Egoin UK was appointed to the the engineering, manufacture and erection of a new a new junior school, divided into a two storey and three storey blocks, linked together. A CLT load bearing frame was proposed, forming the main walls, floor and roof, with occasional glulam beams and a steel structure to support brick facades. Timber has been left visual in many areas, posing a challenge with regards to fire design. The building, designed with a whole lifecyle approach, obtained BREEAM ‘Very Good” thanks to the inclusion of highgly energy efficient features.
