EUDR Meeting May

After a three-month pause in the monthly TDUK EUDR working group meetings, we are delighted to confirm that the next meeting will take place on Thursday, 27 May, 10:00 – 11:30 UK time.

This online members’ discussion is part of the TDUK Responsible Sourcing Committee’s EUDR working group, aimed at providing members with a platform to discuss, exchange, and share insights on the EUDR, its latest updates, and its implementation.

Key updates on EUDR:

• On December 17th, the European Commission, European Parliament, and Council of the European Union agreed on the proposed EUDR delay and amendments.
• Timeline:
  • Large and medium-sized companies must comply by 30 December 2026
  • Micro and small companies have an extended deadline of 30 June 2027 (excluding most Timber products)
• Key changes
  • Micro and small primary operators in the EU only need to submit a one-off simplified declaration
  • Only the first operator placing a product on the EU market is required to submit due diligence statement (DDS) and pass down Reference number / Declaration identifier
  • Only the first downstream operator must collect and retain the reference number of the initial DDS / Declaration Identifier
  • Printed products are excluded from the scope (HS code “ex 49”)
  • The Commission must carry out a simplification review and present a report by 30 April 2026

TDUK EUDR working group meeting – monthly recurrence

Starting on 30th December 2026, the new EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) will replace the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) for wood and wood products being placed on or exported from the EU market. This regulation introduces additional responsibilities for both EU-based companies (importers and exporters) and non-EU suppliers wishing to sell their wood products in the EU.

The EUDR covers a wide range of timber products, including sawn timber, wood-based materials, paper, and furniture. For the full text of the regulation and a detailed list of all covered products, please refer to Annex I of the EUDR.

As the EUDR will affect all businesses selling goods to the EU, either directly or indirectly, we strongly recommend that our members verify with their customers if their goods are being placed on the EU market.
