EUDR Meeting September

This online members’ discussion is part of the TDUK Responsible Sourcing Committee’s EUDR working group, aimed at providing members with a platform to discuss, exchange, and share insights on the EUDR, its latest updates, and its implementation.

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine is the designated Competent Authority in Ireland for the EU Deforestation Regulation 23 / 1115. It is also presently Competent Authority for the EU Timber Regulation 995 / 10 and verification of FLEGT licemces.

Patrick Nulty

Patrick is an Assistant Principal Officer in the department’s Forest Sector Development Division. He manages the section responsible for enforcing the EUTR and FLEGT presently and will be responsible for managing the enforcement of wood products under EUDR. He co-ordinates the department’s work on EU and International Forest Policy.

Alan O’Reilly

Alan is an Assistant Principal Officer in the department’s Forest Sector Development Division. He is co-ordinating the department’s development of standard operation procedures across all relevant commodities subject to the EUDR.

TDUK EUDR working group meeting – monthly recurrence

Starting on 30th December 2025, the new EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) will replace the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) for wood and wood products being placed on or exported from the EU market. This regulation introduces additional responsibilities for both EU-based companies (importers and exporters) and non-EU suppliers wishing to sell their wood products in the EU.

The EUDR covers a wide range of timber products, including sawn timber, wood-based materials, paper, and furniture. For the full text of the regulation and a detailed list of all covered products, please refer to Annex I of the EUDR.

As the EUDR will affect all businesses selling goods to the EU, either directly or indirectly, we strongly recommend that our members verify with their customers if their goods are being placed on the EU market.

To support you in preparing for the EUDR, we invite you to join our monthly EUDR Working Group meetings. These sessions will provide regular updates on the regulation, opportunities to share experiences with fellow members, and practical advice on compliance.
