About NMITE & TDUK
The New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) in Hereford opened its doors to engineering students at its Blackfriars Campus in September 2021 and, in September 2022, opened its new campus at Skylon Park, which includes the Centre for Advanced Timber Technology (CATT), The NMITE Skylon Campus is a building of two halves, a glulam frame supports CLT timber walls and roof, with insulated i-joist cassettes and larch cladding envelop the studios and breakout spaces. The two 750m2 workshops are steel portal frames.
NMITE are an education disrupter – breaking down learning into project sprints, where the students work on real world projects run over 4-week modules, from 9-5 daily emulating a working week. A sustainable Built Environment BSc will be offered from September 2024 in partnership with CIAT and CIOB.
Timber Development UK has been working with NMITE and CATT since 2021. We support and develop the Timber Technology Engineering and Design (Timber TED) courses to re-skill and upskill professionals across the design, engineering, specification, management and delivery sectors. Since September 2022 with TDUK support, 35 participants have learned to understand timber, timber products , sustainability, construction, and technology.
If you would like your staff to benefit from this knowledge, TDUK can support you. Contact Tabitha Binding , Head of Education and Engagement.
