UK CPI inflation increased marginally from 3.9% in November to 4.0% in December, surprising the financial markets, which had expected it to fall slightly to 3.8%. The CPA had been consistently highlighting that financial markets have been overreacting to each data point, and its implied consequences for the Bank of England’s interest rate, as it has been released.
