Volumes of the main timber and panel products imports improved a little in April 2024, halving the deficit over 2023 to just over 3% for the first four months of 2024. 

Although most products remain below last year, this better April has reduced the gap between 2024 and 2023.

In the first four months 2024 solid wood imports were 4.7% lower than over the same period in 2023 and imports of panel products were less than 1% lower.
