Travis Perkins has strengthened its longstanding commitment to responsible sourcing by passing Timber Development UK’s (TDUK) Responsible Purchasing Policy (RPP) Audit.
Since joining TDUK in July 2024, Travis Perkins has successfully completed the rigorous due diligence process, ensuring its imported timber complies with the requirements of the UK Timber Regulations (UKTR).
Travis Perkins was among the first businesses to adopt timber chain of custody certification two decades ago. This latest achievement further assures customers that the timber they purchase from Travis Perkins is legally sourced and responsibly managed from forest to consumer.
Debbie Mertens, Responsible Sourcing & QA Manager at Travis Perkins, said: “It’s our intention to make sure all our timber and timber products are sourced responsibly, legally and without causing deforestation or degradation. Passing the RPP audit in our first year reinforces the work we’ve done to ensure strength, credibility, and compliance of our timber category.”
As part of its commitment to industry best practices, Travis Perkins’ colleagues will undertake training with TDUK to ensure they can provide specialist advice and support to customers on responsible timber sourcing.
TDUK’s Dave Hopkins said: “Congratulations to Travis Perkins for successfully passing their first TDUK Responsible Purchasing Policy (RPP) Audit. TDUK’s RPP is a risk management framework for the continuous improvement of our members’ awareness, understanding and capacity for meeting the UKTR. To demonstrate compliance a company must conduct comprehensive assessments of their suppliers and gather the relevant information to form a robust due diligence system, this system must then be maintained and continuously evaluated.
“This fantastic achievement showcases Travis Perkins’ excellent understanding of their responsibility, and the requirements placed on them as an Operator under the UKTR and it is wonderful to see their commitment to the due diligence of the timber and timber products they import and place on the UK market.”
