Timber Development UK, the new organisation formed by the Timber Trade Federation (TTF) and TRADA, are out to make an impact with their first public half-day conference on 4 May 2022 in London in partnership with UK Construction Week.
This will be an exciting opportunity for members of the new organisation, as well as the wider public, to meet the team and find out more about the mission of Timber Development UK to act as an agent of change for sustainable, low-carbon forms of construction.
Through this merger Timber Development UK is becoming the largest, most comprehensive supply chain body for timber in the UK, and is uniquely positioned to:
Connect the supply chain. Our merged memberships span from sawmill to specifier, including architects, engineers, and designers, and all points in between.
Lead best practice. We are building the largest, comprehensive online library of technical specifications and design guidance for our members.
Accelerate a low carbon future. With the tools, training, and guidance to support the sustainable timber supply chain to lead as a net-zero industry.
UK Construction Week is the UK’s largest built environment event, covering every facet of design, build and product innovation. As the largest event dedicated to knowledge sharing, championing good practice and problem-solving, it’s the environment for the whole industry to look, talk, plan, learn and do business; providing answers for what, when, where and how we build our future.
David Hopkins, chief executive of Timber Development UK:
“Timber Development UK was formed to help accelerate the use of timber in construction. As the leading event for the industry, UK Construction Week is the perfect partner for our first public outing and an opportunity for all to meet the team and learn more about our vision, ambition, and determination to make timber the first choice for sustainable construction. We look forward to welcoming you.”
Nathan Garnett, director of the Construction Division at Media 10:
“UK Construction Week has always put timber at the heart of our event, and as we emerge from the pandemic, it will be all the more important that we use our platform to promote timber in construction. The drive to net-zero and the increasing need to improve quality in construction mean we need to enable a culture change in the way we build. Timber Development UK will be a leading force in this, and we look forward to driving the sector forward together in the years ahead.”
The full schedule of speakers is yet to be announced but will focus on supply chain disruption, including a look at the effects of the recent invasion of Ukraine, how and when to account for carbon in construction, designing for combustible regulations in the UK, and educating a new generation on how to build for a climate crisis.
You can register now online at UK Construction Week for the event and find out more information about Timber Development UK on their website. London is the first opportunity to connect with the team, but not the last, as Timber Development UK is to continue as a partner for UK Construction Week Birmingham, 4-6 October, which also includes Timber Expo 2022.
