The UK has joined the new Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). TDUK’s latest Trade Note explains what this means for members.
The UK concluded negotiations to join the CPTPP on 31 March 2023 and signed the Protocol of Accession on 16 July 2023.
The CPTPP is a free-trade agreement (FTA) between 11 countries around the Pacific Rim: Canada, Mexico, Peru, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Japan.
