The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), scheduled to replace the current EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) in the European Union, came into force on 29 June 2023, with an 18-24 month implementation preparation period.

This regulation will significantly enhance data gathering efforts and due diligence requirements for all businesses involved in the supply chain to the EU. It also has the potential to impact businesses operating in Northern Ireland (NI).

UK government is currently consulting on introducing this in Northern Ireland, and the potential impact of EUDR on UK trade is yet to be determined.
